Learn English Through Topics. Morning Routine. Part 2. Speaking. Ask and Answer.
1. What do you do in the morning?
Well, obviously, personal hygiene activities are at the top of my list. Compared to other members of my family, I suppose I have some sort of weird morning rituals. For example, there are days when I just keep fussing over what to wear despite the fact that I have a wardrobe full of clothes.
2. Is breakfast important?
It is a scientific fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It provides us with the energy to begin our working day. For some others, breakfast can be the family mealtime, since adults are always up to their ears at work.
3. What is your morning routine?
I've got a lot of those, to be honest. I usually start a day sipping a nice cup of latte and then make my own breakfast. Other than that, before I'm off to work, I often spend at least 15 minutes in front of my mirror, you know, to make sure that I look presentable.
4. Do you like to get up early in the morning?
That would be a solid no. I'm quite a night owl, you know, who spends most nights binge-watching movies. Besides, whenever exams are around the corner, I often pull many all-nighters to keep up with the schoolwork. So getting up at 6 every morning sounds like a nightmare to me.
5. Do you usually do the same things every morning?
As I’m a creature of habit, I would say yes. I always get up at 6:00 am, have noodles and tea for breakfast, brush my teeth, then brush up on what we learned the day before in class to make sure I’m well-prepared. After all of this, I leave for class at 8:30am. However, on weekends, I tend to hit the snooze button and end up sleeping till 9 am then start my day.
6. Do you think breakfast is important?
Absolutely. Many experts state that it is the most important meal of the day. I believe it gives me the fuel I need to tackle my day. Moreover, I think it’s critical to have a balanced breakfast to make sure I get all the proper nutrients. I cannot imagine starting my day on an empty stomach!
7. Did you have the same morning routine at an early age?
Yes, pretty much! As I’ve always been a scholarly person, I’ve always had the motivation to get myself up earlier than expected to have a balanced breakfast and prepare myself for the day ahead of me. However, I used to have more of a sweet tooth as a child, so I used to munch on some sweet bread instead of noodles.
8. Do you want to change your daily routine in the future?
I think it’s inevitable since I’ll soon be joining the workforce! I want to keep my organized, prepared habits, but I hope to sleep in a bit more in the future. I would like to at least sleep 30 minutes to an hour later, and not have to spend as much time preparing for my day. Furthermore, I hope to have my own car instead of taking a Grab every morning.
9. What part of your day do you like best?
I love mornings because they remind me of a brand new day. A new day to live life meaningfully; a new day to try again after failing; a new day to seize an opportunity; a new day to improve myself; a new day to be grateful. Mornings are the best!
10. What is the busiest part of the day for you?
I am a procrastinator, so I tend to get extremely busy at night when all my work piles up. I love working at those hours though because no motivation is as good as the urge to sleep.
11. What would you like to change about your current routine?
If time permits, I would love to make exercise a part of my daily routine. It’s not like I am not aware of the wonders exercise can do to my health, I just can’t seem to fit a workout into my tight schedule.
12. How is your morning routine different from when you were a child?
Well, I suppose my parents are a lot less involved with it, for starters. I don't live with them anymore. I also used to rely quite extensively on an alarm clock. I always used to have to set multiple alarm clocks. But now, I wake up of my own accord, really. Of course, I have the alarm still as a backup, but I don't seem to need it. And the last thing, I suppose, in terms of differences is that it's more active now. I was more of a sloth in the morning than I am now. Usually, I wake up full of energy these days.
13. What's a typical routine like for people in your hometown?
Well, I imagine it's different these days due to the quarantine, but under normal circumstances in my hometown, I think people usually wake up earlier than I do to get to work on time. It's not that essential for me. Even before the quarantine, to be honest, I think most people wake up around about half-past seven to eight o'clock in the morning, have breakfast, shower, get dressed, and then head off to work or school. It's simple, but easy to follow, especially if you're sleepy in the mornings.
14. How to start a healthy morning routine?
In my opinion, we cannot emphasize enough how important it is to have a healthy morning routine. How we start the first hour or two or our morning has an impact on our mental, emotional, and physical state for the rest of the day. Drinking lots of water in the morning is also a great way to cleanse your body of any toxicity that your body has metabolized while you were asleep. By flushing out those harmful substances, your body can return to its normal functions with greater ease. This makes for healthier organs, improves bowel movement, and helps prevent diseases that are often associated with dehydration.
15. How to repeat the good morning routine?
This is the hardest part. Establishing a routine is not easy. It's understandable if you start out strong but then falter. If you sleep in one morning or forget some new habits, don't be too hard on yourself ... but also don't give up. Start again the next morning to keep you on track.
16. The internet is chock-full of morning routine ideas, as well as examples of how the great, and good organize their mornings. But the truth is no one can tell you what constitutes the perfect morning routine for you but you. What do you think about this statement?
Absolutely. We all operate differently, with different biological rhythms, different preferences, and different productivity styles. One person likes to kick off their day with a five-mile run while another opts for gentle yoga and a third thinks they're both crazy as she sips her third espresso in bed at 10 a.m.
